About Godstone
A lovely village midway between Oxted and Caterham, Redhill and Westerham. Furnished with all the local shops you may need - baker, post office, chemist, newsagent, cafe, antiques shops, as well as the doctor's surgery just off the Village Green, there is a lot of life in this community. All helped perhaps by the numerous restaurants and pubs and the green itself, the site of many fete and cricket matches. What a perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Despite the village atmosphere, the M25 is within a short distance at junction 6, and Gatwick an easy journey to the South. The nearby towns of Oxted, Caterham, Bletchingley and Redhill are convenient, providing mainline British Rail stations, as well as at South Godstone.
Primary schools are located in the village and several state and independent schools are found in the local communities.
The heart of the village, around the original settlement and The Green, provides for often pretty cottage style properties as well as more substantial town houses. All ages seem to be represented - Georgian (and earlier), Victorian, Edwardian all have some fine examples. Recent developments (off Caitlin Gardens, Crowhurst Mead, Lindley Road) bring the story more up to date.
